Meet Helios and Escalante. They are both about 5 years old and are geldings. They truely are best buddies and get along very well. They are fitting in nicely and love play time with our son and also even the dog! Helios is quite the Sneaky-Pete and has tip-toed past me twice in the barn to go exploring outside of the pasture. They are currently in a time out from having run of the property after really giving the fruit tree orchard a very much not wanted pruning. Helios is the tan/fawn colored one and Escalante is the dark chocolate brown one. Yes, even in the rain they enjoy a nice dirt bath!
This was when we first got them Summer of 2010:
Here they are now as of December 2011:
Here are some of the goats we have been raising. They are very cute and a lot of fun but very noisy!
Here is our Chicken Tractor. Commonly referred to at the "Chicken-Chalet" by me. Hubby built this without any plans and it just kind of evolved during the building process. It has heavy 14 guage wire to keep out the predators, an upper story that is insulated with a thick pine shaving floor and nice dark corners for egg-laying, a ramp to get out to the yard, and underneath is a covered outoor area where they have roosts and to keep their feed bin dry. It has a window underneath and it is their favorite area. It is 4 feet wide by 16 feet long and is very heavy. I can barely move it a foot or two at a time. Hubby can move it pretty well on his own, but we discovered that it is very easy to move by using the back-hoe to grab it and lift it.
